EMDR

EMDR -Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing- is a psychological procedure used in emotional problems caused by distressing life experiences such as war stress, harassment, natural disasters, or grievous occurrences encountered at childhood, and also in treating phobia, performance anxiety, panic disorders, disorders of body perception, signs of trauma in children, bereavement, chronic pains, rape and other problems. EMDR is a procedure which combines psychodynamic, cognitive, behaviorist and client centered and other well known approaches. (Shapiro, 2001).
