Solution-Focused Therapy

Solution-Focused Therapy

Solution-Focused Therapy is a postmodern and creative approach, focusing on the solution in contrast to traditional therapy approach focusing on problems. The approach is effective and, can be learned and expanded quickly. It produces results in a short time.

The followings are the basis of this approach that arised from Steve De Shazer and Insoo Kim Berg’s creative approaches:

  • Each person has different ways of solution.
  • Only client may set a target of therapy.
  • Seeking the sources of clients, instead of deficiency of clients in the therapy.
  • There is no connection between past and problem. Focused on the future rather than past.
  • Do not change anything that gets results in a good way.
  • Do not try again if committed techniques did not work. Look for another way.
  • Sessions are passing in a positive athmosphere.
  • Highlight the whole advances at each sessions.
  • The aim of the each sessions is next step.
  • Changing is starting with small movement and growing like a topsy.
